সুস্মিতা নিজে গীতিকার ও সুরকারও বটে। তাঁর দীর্ঘ জীবনের বিভিন্ন নিবিড় অনুসঙ্গ ও ৫৩ টি রঙিন ছবির অ্যালবাম দিয়ে তৈরি “আমি ও আমার গান” গ্রন্থটি। এই প্রথম তাঁর আত্মকথা গ্রন্থ আকারে প্রকাশ পেল। শিল্পী সত্তার বাইরে তাঁর ব্যক্তি জীবনের কথাও অকপটে উঠে এসেছে এই গ্রন্থে। সাধারণ পাঠক তথা সংগীতের চর্চা যাঁরা করেন তাদের কাছে এই গ্রন্থটি বিশেষভাবে সমাদৃত হবে বললে অত্যুক্তি হবে না বলে মনে হয়।
