‘শূদ্র জাগরণ : স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ’ শীর্ষক গ্রন্থটিতে সম্পূর্ণ নির্মোহ দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিতে ব্যক্তি-মানুষকে ও সমাজকে বিবেকানন্দ কিভাবে পর্যবেক্ষণ করেছেন সেই বিষয়টি আলোচিত হয়েছে। বর্তমানের জটিল সামাজিক প্রেক্ষাপটে বিবেকানন্দকে এই গ্রন্থে একজন সন্ন্যাসী রূপে নয়, একজন প্রখর দূরদৃষ্টি সম্পন্ন সমাজতাত্ত্বিক রূপে প্রতিষ্ঠা করার প্রয়াস ঘটেছে। বাস্তববাদী বিবেকানন্দ যখন বলেন, ”বেদান্তের যতটুকু বাস্তব ততটুকু মানি ”, তখন তার চিন্তা ভাবনাকে অবশ্যই কোনো নির্দিষ্টকাল বা সময়ের মধ্যে সীমাবদ্ধ রাখা যুক্তিসঙ্গত নয়, বলে মনে করা যায়। এই গ্রন্থটি কখনোই কোনো বিশেষ শ্রেণী সম্পর্কে বিতর্ক ঘটাতে উৎসাহী নয়। সমসাময়িক সমাজেও বিবেকানন্দের প্রাসঙ্গিকতাকে তুলে ধরাই গ্রন্থটির মূল উদ্দেশ্য।
